We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Community Program Manager to oversee and develop community-based programs that enhance the well-being of our residents and strengthen their connections to the broader community.

Position Overview

The Community Program Manager is responsible for the planning, implementation, and oversight of programs designed to engage residents and community members, fostering a sense of community and promoting overall well-being. This role involves developing partnerships with local organizations, coordinating events and workshops, managing volunteers, and ensuring that all programs align with the organization’s mission and goals. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in community program management, experience working with diverse populations, and a passion for empowering underserved communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program Development and Management: Design, implement, and manage community-based programs that address the needs of residents, including educational workshops, recreational activities, support groups, and cultural events. Ensure that programs are inclusive, accessible, and responsive to the needs of the community.
  • Community Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with residents, community members, local organizations, and service providers. Encourage resident participation in programs and events, and facilitate opportunities for community involvement.
  • Partnership Development: Identify and develop partnerships with local organizations, businesses, and service providers to enhance program offerings and resources available to residents. Collaborate with partners to coordinate joint initiatives and events.
  • Volunteer Management: Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers to support community programs and events. Ensure that volunteers are effectively integrated into the organization’s programs and that their contributions are recognized and valued.
  • Event Coordination: Plan and execute community events, including fundraisers, outreach activities, and celebrations. Manage logistics, secure venues, coordinate with vendors, and promote events to ensure high participation and success.
  • Resident Support: Provide direct support to residents by connecting them with community resources, offering guidance, and addressing any concerns related to program participation. Act as a liaison between residents and external service providers.
  • Data and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of program participation, outcomes, and impact. Prepare regular reports for the Director of Programs or Executive Director, as well as for funders and stakeholders.
  • Budget Management: Assist in developing and managing the budget for community programs, including monitoring expenditures, approving purchases, and ensuring cost-effective use of resources. Identify funding needs and collaborate with the development team to secure grants and donations.
  • Program Evaluation: Regularly assess the effectiveness of community programs, including gathering feedback from participants and stakeholders. Make recommendations for program improvements and implement changes as needed.
  • Outreach and Advocacy: Advocate for the needs and interests of residents within the community and with local government agencies. Participate in community meetings, coalitions, and advocacy efforts to promote the well-being of residents.
  • Crisis Intervention: Provide crisis intervention and support to residents as needed, particularly in situations that impact their ability to participate in community programs. Ensure that staff and volunteers are trained in crisis management.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Community Development, Public Administration, or a related field required; a Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in community program management, social services, or a related field. Experience working with low-income or vulnerable populations, particularly in a residential setting, is highly desirable.

  • Proficient in program planning, development, and evaluation.

  • Knowledge: Understanding of community development principles, social services, and issues faced by low-income families. Familiarity with local, state, and federal regulations related to community programs and services.
